Spades Makes it Official, Declares for D7 Draft
Creighton Freshman, Jack Spades made it official as he declared for the D7 draft days after the Bluejays' elimination from the NCAA Tournament. “Staying definitely crossed my mind” said Spades in the conference regarding his decision “for the fans, to pass Doug’s record, to get that NCAA title,a lot of things. But the opportunity to play the best and become the best, It was just too much to pass up.”
Early on, Spades drew comparison to fellow Bluejays Alumnus: Kyle Korver - perceived as nothing much aside from a one-dimensional jump shooter with great range. But Spades showed far more polish than Korver in his freshman season, not only proving to be an immediate contributor on offense, but showing signs of being a serviceable defender. His two-way play quickly earned him favor with Bluejays Coach Greg McDermott and soon after, the starting nod.
Spades ran with the opportunity, leading the team in scoring with 17.6 PPG on 47.8% FG and 42.3% 3PT while posting averages of 2.3 APG and 4.2 RPG. The Bluejays made the NCAA Tournament on Spades' lead but were sent home early - falling to the Arizona State Sun Devils, 63-71 despite Spades’ 28 point effort. Spades recently worked out for the Nike Stallions, leading the team to an 80-58 victory where he demonstrated his two-way value by not only putting on a show with 23 points on 11 of 19 shooting, but also limiting his man to a paltry 6 points on 2 of 13.

Interesting article, lots of backstory. The picture is cool, looks like Kyle Korver. Can't wait to see how he does in Dynasty 7!
