The Under Armour Roar started by signing Corliss Williamson, an Arkansas legend to be their General Manager. Funny coincidence behind the signing is that he coached at the University of Central Arkansas. Perhaps that is why he chose to go with their logo as the logo for the Under Armour Roar. Williamson and The Roar opened their draft Thursday afternoon by selecting a point guard, small forward, and shooting guard. “We believe the big man class was ok, and that we could select a capable player later in the draft.” According to some, that was a risk we should not have allowed ourselves to take.
Could The Roar be building a running team? They selected an undersized small forward, a shooter for the wing, and a point guard who will challenge for the All Star spot at that position. Others have doubted the ability of Mr. Breezy, but we think he will challenge the league and will not be easy to guard.
Baby Shaq and The Destroyer have the most potential on the team. They have the best chance of making something of themselves in the league. Despite his size, Baby Shaq has an inside presence, in scoring and on the boards. The Destroyer can knock it down from outside. Mr. Breezy has an outside shot as well. The two shooters on the outside will cause teams to stay honest and not crowd the middle. Duck, the team’s center brings defense and rebounding to the inside. He is good with put backs, but has not mastered his jumper as of yet.
With their 5th pick, The Roar will either go with a PF to round out their starting rotation or possibly pick up the best available player to be their 6th man. Which way will the team go? I guess you’ll just have to stay tuned for more of the Roar!
